The Ardent

The Ardent started as a two-piece playing at a volume that got them thrown out of two rehearsal spaces, added a bass player in 2022, and have been getting heavier every year since. They are the most disciplined band on the roster: they rehearse three times a week, they arrive knowing the arrangement, and they have never once run over on a soundcheck. That precision is why they can be recorded live — ‘Nine Volts’ was cut in a morning and ‘Heavy Weather’, nine songs of it, in five days with the house PA running. Live they are the reason The Room has a reinforced stage riser. ‘Curfew’ closes every set and has never once been played the same length twice.
